Public Forum in Tokyo and Osaka to Rethink the Church Through End-of-Life Ministry
葬儀と終活の視点から教会のあり方を問い直す公開セッション「キリスト教葬儀から宣教の可能性を考える会議2025」が、5月10日（東京）と5月17日（大阪）に開催される。主催は、キリスト教葬儀専門のライフワークス。
A public forum titled Exploring Evangelism Through Christian Funerals 2025 will be held in Tokyo (May 10) and Osaka (May 17). The event is organized by Life Works, a Christian funeral service provider.
高齢化と少子化が進む中、日本の地域教会では信徒数や献金の減少、牧師の高齢化と後継者不在といった問題が深刻化している。とりわけ葬儀や終活は、未信者との接点を持つ数少ない機会として位置づけられつつある。
As Japan continues to age and its population declines, local churches face a range of issues including falling attendance, reduced financial support, and an aging clergy with few successors. Funerals and end-of-life care have come to be recognized as rare yet meaningful points of engagement with non-believers.
葬儀と終活を主題とする講演には、神学・実務の両面から複数の登壇者が参加する。研究者による発表では、未信者に向けたキリスト教葬儀の実践、宣教学と聖書理解に基づく悼みの神学的意義、そして団塊世代の終活意識を反映した新しい葬儀や墓のあり方などが取り上げられる。また、現場で多数の葬儀を担ってきた実務家が、葬送の現場と宣教の接点について実践的な報告を行う。
The lectures will bring together speakers from both theological and practical fields. Topics include Christian funeral practices for non-believers, theological reflections on mourning from the perspectives of mission studies and biblical interpretation, and new models of funerals and burial shaped by contemporary end-of-life attitudes. In addition, a practitioner with extensive experience in funeral services will present on how such rites can serve as meaningful points of connection for outreach and ministry.
また、終活や悼みを通じて人々の関心が宗教や儀礼に向かう現代的状況についても、事例を交えて考察する。
The speakers will also address contemporary interest in rituals and spirituality through end-of-life planning and mourning practices, drawing on concrete examples.
後半には登壇者によるパネルディスカッションが行われ、葬送をめぐる実践神学や教会の現場での対応が共有される。
In the second half of each session, a panel discussion will bring together perspectives on pastoral care and practical theology as they relate to funerals and church engagement.
