“Kinen Coin” Service Launched at Three Shikoku Pilgrimage Temples — A New Way to Preserve Prayers in Physical Form
四国八十八ヶ所霊場の第22番札所・平等寺（徳島県）、第37番札所・岩本寺（高知県）、第88番札所・大窪寺（香川県）の3寺院にて、参拝者の願いを形に残す新サービス「祈念コイン®」の販売が4月8日より始まった。
On April 8, 2025, three temples on the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage—Byodo-ji (Temple 22 in Tokushima), Iwamoto-ji (Temple 37 in Kochi), and Okubo-ji (Temple 88 in Kagawa)—launched a new service called the “Kinen Coin®,” which allows pilgrims to preserve their prayers in a tangible and symbolic form.
これは2枚セットの特製コインを使い、1枚をお賽銭として奉納し、もう1枚をお守りとして持ち帰ることで、祈りの体験を記憶と実物の両面から深く刻む新たな参拝スタイルとして提案されている。
The service offers a set of two specially designed coins. One is offered to the temple’s principal deity as an osaisen (monetary offering), while the other is kept by the pilgrim as a personal omamori (amulet). Each coin bears a unique design specific to the temple where it is sold, making it not only a spiritual token but also a collectible keepsake of the journey.
本サービスは、社会課題解決や地域活性化を支援する株式会社MOGITATe（東京都）と株式会社レモリフ（香川県高松市）が運営支援を行っており、今回の導入は実証実験としての位置付けとなる。参拝者が願いを可視化し、寺院ごとのオリジナルデザインによって唯一無二のコレクション性も兼ね備えている。
The project is currently being conducted as a pilot initiative, supported by MOGITATe Inc. (Tokyo), a company engaged in solving social issues and revitalizing local communities, and Lemolif Inc. (Takamatsu, Kagawa).
また、訪日観光客に向けても導入が期待されており、日本文化や信仰体験を象徴する「祈念コイン」を母国に持ち帰ることで、旅の思い出としての価値だけでなく、日本への関心や再訪を促す機会にもつながるという。
In addition to Japanese pilgrims, the initiative is designed with international visitors in mind. As inbound tourism continues to grow, the Kinen Coin is expected to serve as a meaningful souvenir that enhances interest in Japanese religious culture and encourages future visits.
「祈念コイン®」は、株式会社MOGITATeの登録商標で、今後はさらなる札所への展開や、地域ごとのカスタマイズによる発展も視野に入れている。
The “Kinen Coin®” is a registered trademark of MOGITATe Inc., and expansion to other pilgrimage temples and regions is under consideration for the future.
