▪Katsuo-ji Temple Launches ‘#WDC’ Event During Expo 2025 to Promote Global Friendship with Flags of the World
大阪府箕面市の勝尾寺は、2025年4月13日から開催される『大阪・関西万博』の応援イベントとして、国際交流とSNS発信をテーマにした『#WDC（World Daruma Challenge）』を万博会期中の184日間にわたり実施する。
Katsuo-ji Temple in Minoh City, Osaka Prefecture, will host a special event titled “#WDC (World Daruma Challenge)” to support Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. The event will run throughout the Expo period, from April 13 to October 13, 2025, for a total of 184 days. It promotes international exchange and social media participation.
この企画は、200近い国や地域の国旗とともに記念撮影を楽しめるというもので、来場者は「自国の旗とともに」「他国の人と旗を持ち合って」など、自由な形で国際交流を体験できる場として設けられる。
The event will feature nearly 200 national and regional flags for visitors to hold and pose with. Whether they choose to photograph themselves with their own country’s flag or share the moment with people from other nations, participants can enjoy spontaneous, cross-cultural interaction.
また、ハッシュタグ「#WDC」を添えてSNS投稿することで、国境を越えた発信を促し、世界中に万博の機運を広げる狙いもある。勝尾寺は「文化の交流地」としての役割を自負しており、今回のイベントを通じて多言語・多国籍の参拝者との新たなつながりの創出を目指している。

勝尾寺は727年創建の古刹で、「王に勝つ」という伝承から「勝尾寺（かつおうじ）」と改名された経緯を持つ。受験、病気克服、スポーツなどの「勝負ごと」の寺として全国的に知られ、授与される「勝ちダルマ」は、自らの目標達成を誓う“自己誓約”の象徴として、多くの参拝者に親しまれている。
Founded in 727, Katsuo-ji Temple is an ancient site renowned as a place to “win over oneself,” not others. Its name, meaning “Victory Temple,” was modified to use the character for “tail” (尾) instead of “king” (王) out of humility. The temple’s iconic “Kachi Daruma” (Victory Daruma) serves as a symbolic contract for self-discipline and goal achievement, earning popularity among visitors seeking success in exams, health, relationships, or sports.
