Special Exhibition at Isonokami Jingu Celebrates 150th Anniversary of Futsunomitama Sword Manifestation
奈良県天理市に鎮座する日本最古の神社のひとつ、石上神宮は、神剣フツノミタマ顕現150周年を記念し、特別展「石上神宮と御剣（みつるぎ）」を2025年5月14日から20日までの7日間、参集殿にて開催する。
Isonokami Jingu, one of Japan’s oldest shrines located in Tenri, Nara Prefecture, will hold a special exhibition titled “Isonokami Jingu and the Sacred Swords” from May 14 to 20, 2025, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the appearance of the divine sword Futsunomitama.
テーマは「中今（なかいま）に続く祈りのかたち」。神話時代から現代まで、刀剣を通じて祈りがどのように受け継がれてきたかを示す構成となっており、石上神宮の深い歴史と信仰の中心にある神剣と、貴重な刀剣類が一堂に展示される。
With the theme “The Form of Prayer That Lives in the Present,” the exhibition explores how sacred swords have served as vessels of prayer from mythological times to today, showcasing the shrine’s deep history and spiritual heritage through a display of rare and revered blades.
会場では、神宮が所蔵する国宝「七支刀（しちしとう）」の復元刀（河内國平作）をはじめ、奈良県指定文化財の「太刀 銘 義憲作（号：小狐丸）」などが展示される。さらに、人気ゲーム『刀剣乱舞ONLINE』とのコラボレーションとして、刀匠・宮入法廣氏が作刀した「陽の剣 銘 天」「陰の剣 銘 地」「奉献の剣 銘 人 天長地久」の三振が初めて揃って展示される。
Among the featured items are a reproduction of the national treasure Seven-Branched Sword (crafted by master swordsmith Kawachi Kunihira) and the historically significant sword “Tachi Inscribed by Yoshinori (known as Kogitsunemaru),” designated as a cultural property by Nara Prefecture. For the first time, three swords created by swordsmith Miyairi Norihiro in collaboration with the popular game “Touken Ranbu ONLINE”—“Sun Sword (Ten),” “Moon Sword (Chi),” and “Offering Sword (Jin: Tencho Chikyuu)”—will be displayed together.
このほか、「刀剣男士 小狐丸」の等身大パネルの設置、コラボグッズの販売も予定され、若い世代にも刀剣の神聖さや日本文化の奥深さを体感できる内容となっている。
Additionally, a life-sized panel of the game character “Kogitsunemaru” and exclusive collaboration merchandise will be presented, offering younger generations a chance to connect with the sacred and cultural significance of Japanese swords.
石上神宮は2100年以上の歴史を持ち、物部氏の総氏神として信仰を集めてきた。御神体を拝殿後方の禁足地に埋斎するという古代信仰の形を今に残し、草薙剣、天十握剣、神剣韴霊など、神話に登場する神剣を祀ることから、刀剣の聖地としても知られている。
With a history of over 2,100 years, Isonokami Jingu has long been revered as the ancestral shrine of the Mononobe clan. It preserves the ancient belief of enshrining the sacred object in a forbidden zone behind the main hall and is known as a sacred site for legendary swords such as Kusanagi, Ame-no-Totsuka, and Futsunomitama.
