Prayer for Mountains and Seas: National Spring Mountain Thanksgiving Festival Held at Kurumayama Shrine
長野県茅野市と諏訪市にまたがる霧ヶ峰・車山（標高1925メートル）の山頂に鎮座する車山神社で、2025年5月5日、「全国春山感謝祭」が催される。
The National Spring Mountain Thanksgiving Festival will take place on May 5, 2025, at Kurumayama Shrine, located atop Mt. Kurumayama (1,925 meters) on the Kirigamine Plateau straddling Chino and Suwa in Nagano Prefecture.
この祭りは、山を神聖な存在として仰いできた縄文以来の自然信仰に基づき、山の恵みや登山者の無事、そして水を介して海に至る命の巡りを神前に捧げる場として設けられた。
The event is rooted in ancient nature worship that reveres mountains as sacred, and offers a space for prayers honoring the blessings of the mountains, the safety of climbers, and the life-giving flow from mountains to sea.
「天空の社」と呼ばれる車山神社の社殿は、リフトで山頂まで登った先にあり、登山客や観光者にとっても親しみのある場所となっている。
Known as the “Shrine in the Sky,” Kurumayama Shrine is accessible via a summit lift and remains a familiar site for both climbers and visitors.
祭り当日は、神職による祭儀に続き、山と海の恵みを象徴する供物が供えられ、参列者によって静かに祈りが捧げられる予定。
The day’s proceedings will include formal rites led by Shinto priests, followed by offerings representing natural abundance, and quiet prayers from all participants.
この祭儀は、自然とともに生きるという古代の精神を今に伝え、登山文化や地域の信仰と結びつくかたちで継承されている。
By preserving the spirit of coexisting with nature, this ritual continues to reflect traditional values while remaining connected to modern mountaineering and local spirituality.
