Ikuta Shrine Marks the Season with Monthly Goshuin — A Prayerful Dialogue with the City of Kobe
神戸市の中心部に鎮座する生田神社では、2025年5月1日から31日まで、季節の移ろいを表現した5月限定御朱印の授与が行われている。毎月テーマを変えて頒布される御朱印は、単なる記念ではなく、この地に息づく信仰と文化を映し出す存在として定着してきた。
From May 1 to 31, 2025, Ikuta Shrine—located in central Kobe—is offering seasonal goshuin (shrine seal stamps) designed to reflect the spirit of early summer. Issued monthly with changing themes, these stamps are more than decorative tokens; they represent an evolving expression of faith rooted in the life of the city.
生田神社は、古くは西暦201年に創祀されたと伝えられ、御祭神・稚日女尊（わかひるめのみこと）は縁結びの神として広く信仰を集めてきた。戦災からの復興を経て、今日では都市とともに生きる神社として、日々の暮らしに寄り添う信仰を育んでいる。
Said to have been founded in the year 201 CE, Ikuta Shrine enshrines the deity Wakahirume no Mikoto, venerated especially as a guardian of human relationships. Having withstood war and reconstruction, the shrine today embraces its role as a sacred space that moves in rhythm with the urban life surrounding it.
月替わりで御朱印を頒布する取り組みは、年間を通じて季節の変化を祈りに結び直す試みとして続けられてきた。自然の営みや人の願いを文様や色に込め、参拝者がその時々の気持ちで受け取れるように意図されている。
The monthly goshuin project has been sustained as a way to reframe each season through prayer. Each stamp’s colors and motifs reflect the rhythms of nature and human sentiment, inviting worshippers to receive them in the spirit of the moment.
5月には、クローバーや兜で「一期一会」を表す切り絵や、藤の花をあしらった「初夏詣」など、6種の御朱印が用意された。神社では、月ごとの御朱印を通して参拝の意味を深め、神社とまち、人と人とのつながりを見つめ直すきっかけになればとしている。
For May, six designs have been prepared, including one featuring paper-cut clover and kabuto motifs symbolizing “once-in-a-lifetime encounters,” and another adorned with wisteria to honor the arrival of early summer. The shrine sees these monthly offerings as a chance to deepen the act of visiting and to reflect on the connections between shrine, city, and community.
