Nara National Museum’s “Oh! KOKUHO” Exhibition Surpasses 100,000 Visitors—Featuring 112 National Treasures Including the Kudara Kannon and the Seven-Branched Sword
奈良国立博物館で開催中の開館130年記念特別展「超 国宝―祈りのかがやき―」が、2025年5月13日（火）に来場者10万人を突破した。
The special exhibition “Oh! KOKUHO—Resplendent Treasures of Devotion and Heritage,” currently underway at the Nara National Museum, welcomed its 100,000th visitor on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
4月19日の開幕からわずか22日での達成となった。会場では、国宝112件、重要文化財16件を含む計143件が展示されており、同館の専門性を活かした仏教・神道美術の精華が一堂に会している。
The milestone was reached just 22 days after the exhibition opened on April 19. A total of 143 works are on display, including 112 designated National Treasures and 16 Important Cultural Properties—many drawn from the museum’s renowned collection of Buddhist and Shinto art.
展示の目玉となるのは、法隆寺所蔵の国宝「観音菩薩立像（百済観音）」や、石上神宮の国宝「七支刀」など、通常は拝観機会の限られる貴重な名宝の数々。
Highlights include the celebrated Kudara Kannon (Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara) from Hōryū-ji Temple and the Seven-Branched Sword from Isonokami Shrine—rarely seen masterpieces of Japanese spiritual heritage.
5月20日から始まる後期展示では、中宮寺の「菩薩半跏像（伝如意輪観音）」、清凉寺の「釈迦如来立像」、伊藤若冲による国宝「動植綵絵」から「雪中鴛鴦図」「大鶏雌雄図」などが新たに公開される。
The second half of the exhibition, beginning May 20, will feature additional treasures including the Half-Seated Bodhisattva from Chūgū-ji Temple, the Standing Shakyamuni Buddha from Seiryō-ji, and two National Treasure scrolls from Itō Jakuchū’s Colorful Realm of Living Beings series.
来場者数の快進撃に加え、公式図録やオリジナルグッズの人気も上昇中。七支刀や百済観音をモチーフとした商品、地獄絵をデザインしたユニークなトランプなど、SNSでも話題を呼んでいる。
The exhibition’s popularity extends beyond the gallery. Official catalogues and exclusive merchandise—such as figures of the Kudara Kannon, Seven-Branched Sword-themed items, and a deck of cards featuring hellscapes—have also garnered attention on social media.
展覧会は6月15日（日）まで。奈良国立博物館が開館130年の節目に掲げた「超 国宝」の名にふさわしく、宗教美術がもつ精神と造形の輝きを来場者に深く印象づけている。
Running through June 15, the exhibition lives up to its bold title “Oh! KOKUHO,” offering a powerful encounter with the luminous spirit and form of Japan’s religious art on the occasion of the museum’s 130th anniversary.
