A Thousand-Year-Old Shrine Begins Its Rebirth—Kobi Jinja Launches Crowdfunding for Reconstruction
岐阜県美濃加茂市中富町に鎮座する古井（こび）神社が、令和6年10月の火災によって本殿を含む社殿の大部分を焼失してから半年。地域に根ざした信仰の拠点を再建すべく、氏子総代らによる「古井神社再建復興の会」がクラウドファンディングを開始した。
Kobi Jinja, a shrine located in Nakatomi Town, Minokamo City, Gifu Prefecture, lost nearly all of its structures—including the main hall—in a fire in October 2024. Six months later, the community has launched a crowdfunding campaign to rebuild this spiritual center, led by a newly formed “Kobi Jinja Reconstruction Committee” of local parishioners.
火災は2024年10月1日午前3時ごろ、放送設備のショートによって発生。本殿、拝殿、社務所を含む主要施設がすべて焼け落ちた。10年前に地域住民の寄付によって新築されたばかりだった本殿が一夜にして灰と化した衝撃は大きく、地元では深い喪失感が広がった。
The fire broke out around 3 a.m. on October 1, 2024, reportedly caused by a short circuit in the shrine’s broadcast amplifier system. The main sanctuary, worship hall, and administrative office—all reduced to ashes. The destruction was especially heartbreaking, as the main hall had been rebuilt just a decade earlier through community donations.
それでも、焼け跡の境内に仮本殿を設置し、11月には新嘗祭、年末には除夜祭を仮設テントの下で実施するなど、神事を絶やすことなく継続してきた氏子たち。今回のクラウドファンディングは、まず神事に必要な祭具の再調達を目的とし、初期目標金額を500万円と設定。2025年6月30日までReadyfor上で支援を呼びかけている。
Despite the loss, the shrine’s supporters quickly set up a temporary altar on the grounds and held traditional ceremonies such as the Niinamesai in November and the New Year’s Eve festival in December under makeshift tents. The current crowdfunding campaign aims to raise 5 million yen by June 30, 2025, primarily to procure the sacred tools necessary to continue annual rituals.
古井神社の創建は天暦5年（951年）にさかのぼり、明治期には地域9社を合祀し、現在の名を受け継いだ。例年春の例大祭「こびのお祭り」では、神男でもある蠅追（はえおい）がササラを手に参拝者の頭を払って厄を祓う儀式が行われ、地域に根付いた信仰と文化を象徴してきた。
Kobi Jinja traces its origins back to the year 951, when it was originally founded as Nakafu Jinja. It took its current form in 1909, when nine neighboring shrines were merged. Its annual spring festival, popularly known as “Kobi no Omatsuri,” features a traditional ritual in which shrine attendants symbolically brush away misfortune from worshippers using bamboo whisks—an event deeply rooted in local culture.
今回の再建は単なる建築復旧にとどまらず、地域の文化と記憶を未来へと手渡す営みでもある。「祈りの場」を絶やさないため、全国からの支援を呼びかけている。
The reconstruction effort is not just about restoring buildings—it’s about passing on the spiritual and cultural memory of the community to future generations. To preserve this place of prayer, the committee now calls for support from people across Japan.
