Four Temple Lotus Pilgrimage Returns to Nara: “Nishi-no-Kyo Lotus Road” 2025 to Feature New Rubbing Activity at Saidaiji Temple

初夏から夏にかけて見頃を迎える蓮の花。仏教の象徴とされるこの花を楽しむ恒例企画「奈良・西ノ京ロータスロード～蓮と歴史を楽しむ旅～」が、今年も開催される。
The lotus, a symbol of Buddhist teachings, comes into full bloom in early summer. The annual pilgrimage event “Nara Nishi-no-Kyo Lotus Road: A Journey of Lotus and History” will once again return this year.
奈良市観光協会は2025年6月12日（木）から8月11日（月・祝）にかけて、西大寺・喜光寺・唐招提寺・薬師寺の四ヶ寺を巡る共通拝観券を販売。購入者は各寺でこの企画限定の御朱印を授かることができる。
From June 12 (Thu) to August 11 (Mon, holiday), the Nara City Tourism Association will offer a special joint admission ticket covering four historic temples: Saidaiji, Kikoji, Toshodaiji, and Yakushiji. Ticket holders will receive a special goshuin (temple seal) at each location.
今回で第12回目となる本イベントでは、奈良で出土した古代瓦（レプリカ）に刻まれた蓮の文様を写し取る「拓本体験」が西大寺で初開催される。
Marking its 12th year, this year’s edition introduces a new “rubbing experience” at Saidaiji Temple, where participants can make ink impressions of lotus motifs found on replica ancient roof tiles excavated in Nara.
そのほか、ウォーキングツアー、写真教室、朝がゆ体験など多彩な企画が用意され、共通拝観券には食事や買い物で利用できる地域クーポンも付属する。
Additional experiences include walking tours, photography classes, and morning porridge sessions. The joint admission ticket also comes with coupons usable at local eateries and shops.
蓮は午前中に花を開き、午後には閉じる性質を持つ。比較的涼しい朝の時間帯の参拝とあわせて、涼やかな蓮観賞を楽しみたい。
Because lotus blossoms open in the morning and close by afternoon, visitors are encouraged to enjoy temple visits in the cooler morning hours, when the flowers are at their peak.
