Kyoto City’s “Kyo no Natsu no Tabi” 50th Anniversary Features Special Temple and Shrine Openings and Nighttime Illuminations
京都市および公益社団法人京都市観光協会は、7月1日から9月30日まで、50回目を迎える「京の夏の旅」キャンペーンを開催する。今年は初となる夜間の特別ライトアップを実施するほか、暑さ対策にも力を入れた多彩な取り組みが特徴だ。
Kyoto City and the Kyoto City Tourism Association will host the 50th anniversary “Kyo no Natsu no Tabi” campaign from July 1 to September 30. This year, the campaign introduces its first nighttime illumination events, along with diverse initiatives aimed at mitigating summer heat.
寺社関連では、通常非公開の貴重な文化財が特別に公開される。日本一高い木造二重門として知られる東本願寺の御影堂門が「京の夏の旅」初公開となり、仁和寺の観音堂も6年ぶりに開かれる。観音堂には三十三体の仏像が荘厳な空間を彩り、訪れる人の目を引きつけそうだ。また、上賀茂神社と下鴨神社は国宝である本殿を特別公開し、京都屈指の歴史的な神域の魅力を広く紹介する。
Notably, several temples and shrines will open valuable cultural properties ordinarily closed to the public. Higashi Honganji’s Goeido Gate, renowned as Japan’s tallest wooden double gate, will open for the first time. Additionally, Ninnaji Temple’s Kannon Hall will be accessible after six years, featuring an impressive array of 33 colorful Buddhist statues. Kamigamo Shrine and Shimogamo Shrine will also specially open their national-treasure main halls, showcasing Kyoto’s significant historic religious heritage.
さらに、夜間特別企画として上賀茂神社では「龍神詣りと足つけ夕涼み」を開催。境内を流れる「ならの小川」で涼を感じながら、風鈴の音色が境内に響く風情を楽しめる。仁和寺と旧三井家下鴨別邸でも夜間特別ライトアップが行われ、日中とは異なる幻想的な風景を提供する予定だ。
Additionally, Kamigamo Shrine will hold the special nighttime event “Ryujin Mairi and Ashitsuke Yusuzumi,” allowing visitors to cool down by the Nara-no-Ogawa stream accompanied by soothing wind chimes. Similarly, nighttime illuminations at Ninnaji Temple and the Old Mitsui Family Shimogamo Villa will offer visitors enchanting, atmospheric scenery distinct from daytime experiences.
期間中、一部施設では熱中症予防を目的としたクーリングスポットを設置。暑さ対策グッズを配布し、参拝客が京都の夏を安全かつ心地よく過ごせるように支援する。
Throughout the campaign period, certain venues will provide cooling spots aimed at preventing heatstroke, distributing heat-mitigation items to visitors. These measures are part of Kyoto’s ongoing efforts to create a sustainable tourism environment, ensuring visitors can safely and comfortably experience the city’s cultural heritage during the hot summer months.
