Sagamihara City’s Chuo Ward Hosts Special “Hydrangea Hana-chozu” Event at Shrines and Public Spaces for Rainy Season
相模原市中央区は、区の花である「あじさい」と、手水舎を花で飾る伝統文化「花手水（はなちょうず）」を融合させた特別企画を、6月13日（金）から27日（金）までの期間限定で実施する。
Chuo Ward in Sagamihara City will host a special limited-time event from June 13 (Fri.) to June 27 (Fri.), combining hydrangeas—the ward’s symbolic flower—with the traditional “Hana-chozu,” decorating water basins at shrines with floating flowers.
この催しは、中央区誕生15周年を記念する企画で、昨年の人気を受け2回目の開催となる。今年は特にJR相模原駅構内や相模原市役所本庁舎のロビーで記念バージョンとして華やかな演出が施される。
Celebrating the 15th anniversary of Chuo Ward’s establishment, the event returns for a second year after last year’s popularity. Special commemorative displays will be featured at JR Sagamihara Station and the main lobby of Sagamihara City Hall.
花手水とは神社や公共施設の手水舎に花を浮かべ、訪れた人々に季節感と癒しを提供する近年注目の文化。亀ヶ池八幡宮や氷川神社など市内4箇所で、それぞれ趣向を凝らした美しい「あじさい花手水」を楽しむことができる。
Hana-temizu is a recent popular culture in which flowers are floated in the handbasins of shrines and public facilities to provide a sense of the season and healing to visitors. Visitors can enjoy beautiful “hydrangea flower hand-mizusui” at four locations in the city, including Kamegaike Hachimangu Shrine and Hikawa Shrine, each with its own elaborate design.
また、中央区は公式インスタグラムを通じて、イベントの最新情報や地域の魅力を発信している。今回の催しでは、訪れた人に特製の「中央区花手水オリジナルコースター」をプレゼントするなど、地域への愛着を深める仕掛けも用意している。
Chuo Ward is actively promoting the event and regional attractions via its official Instagram. Visitors to the event can receive a special commemorative coaster, enhancing local pride and fostering community attachment.
相模原市中央区は、平成22年の政令指定都市移行に伴い誕生し、令和7年4月に15周年を迎えた。区では今後もこうした季節の催しを通じて、地域の文化的魅力を広く伝えていく。
Chuo Ward was established in April 2010 when Sagamihara became a designated city, and this year marks its 15th anniversary. The ward plans to continue showcasing its cultural charm through seasonal events and initiatives.
