Yokohama Heritage Part 2 Exhibition at Yokohama History Museum Features Shomyoji Temple and Kagura Traditions
横浜市歴史博物館（都筑区）では、開館30周年を記念した特別展「横浜の文化財 Yokohama Heritage ―まもり伝える地域の記憶」Part 2「伝承」を、2025年6月14日から7月27日まで開催する。本展は、前期Part 1「修復」に続く内容で、文化財の保存と継承をめぐる地域社会とのかかわりに焦点を当てている。
The Yokohama History Museum (Tsuzuki Ward) will host a special exhibition titled Yokohama Heritage: Memories Preserved and Passed On, Part 2: “Tradition,” from June 14 to July 27, 2025, commemorating its 30th anniversary. As a follow-up to Part 1: “Restoration,” this installment focuses on how local communities engage with the preservation and transmission of cultural heritage.
展示では、地域に根差して伝えられてきた無形文化や物語性のある文化財が取り上げられる。古文書や出土品、絵図、年中行事の記録などを通じて、横浜の伝承に多角的にアプローチする構成となっている。
The exhibition highlights intangible cultural properties and narrative-rich heritage rooted in the local area. Visitors will encounter a wide array of materials—ancient manuscripts, excavated artifacts, illustrated maps, and documentation of seasonal rituals—that offer multidimensional insights into Yokohama’s transmitted traditions.
「お札まき」で知られる八坂神社や、「お馬流し」が今も続く本牧の行事に加え、考古資料や史跡の記録なども紹介される。市民生活のなかに息づく地域文化の痕跡に触れられる内容だ。
Among the features are the Ofuda-maki ritual at Yasaka Shrine and the still-practiced Oumanagashi in Honmoku, alongside archaeological finds and site records. These exhibits allow visitors to explore how traces of regional culture remain embedded in everyday life.
また、称名寺庭園や金沢貞顕五輪塔、称名寺貝塚といったゆかりの地を実際に訪れる現地見学イベントも企画されている。展示を補完する学びの場として位置づけられている。
In addition, on-site tours to related locations—such as the Shomyoji Temple Garden, the Gorinto of Kanazawa Sadaaki, and the Shomyoji Shell Mound—are scheduled. These excursions serve to complement the exhibit with direct experiential learning.
とりわけ注目されるのが、神代神楽の公演（7月19日）と、神楽や祭礼をめぐる講演（7月13日）である。身体性をともなった文化の継承を目の当たりにする機会となる。
Particularly noteworthy are the Kamiyo Kagura performance on July 19 and the lecture on kagura and festivals on July 13. These programs present opportunities to witness cultural transmission through embodied tradition and ritual.
7月5日には「横浜の史跡」と題した講演会も開催予定で、佐藤信館長が登壇する。市内各所の史跡とその保存について、専門的な視点から語られる。
A lecture titled “Historic Sites of Yokohama” will take place on July 5, with Museum Director Makoto Sato discussing the city’s historical sites and their preservation from an expert perspective.
こうした展示や催しを通じて、横浜市歴史博物館は、文化財の継承に地域が果たしてきた役割を今一度見つめ直す機会を提供する。
Through its exhibitions and programs, the Yokohama History Museum invites reflection on the roles that communities have long played in passing down cultural heritage.
