Daihannyakyo Sutra at Nakadai Enmeiji Registered as Tangible Cultural Property — JWU Students Contributed to Survey

日本女子大学（東京都文京区）の学生が調査に携わった東京都板橋区の中台延命寺所蔵「大般若経」600巻が、2025年2月14日付で板橋区の登録有形文化財に指定された。文化財登録証は、同年5月21日に中台延命寺の大塚龍雅住職に手渡された。
A 600-volume Daihannyakyo Sutra set housed at Nakadai Enmeiji Temple in Itabashi Ward, Tokyo—surveyed by students from Japan Women’s University (Bunkyo Ward)—was designated as a Tangible Cultural Property on February 14, 2025. The registration certificate was presented to Chief Priest Ryuga Otsuka on May 21.
この調査は、同大学の社会連携教育センターが主催する地域連携事業「史料調査および調書作成ボランティア」として実施されたもので、学生40名が半年間にわたり参加した。文学部史学科を中心に、児童学科、日本文学科、社会福祉学科、教育学科、数理系学科など、文系・理系を問わず幅広い学科の学生が関わった。
The survey was carried out as part of the university’s community engagement initiative, “Historical Materials Survey and Cataloging Volunteer Program,” organized by the Center for Social Collaboration in Education. Over a six-month period, 40 students participated, primarily from the Department of History, as well as from Early Childhood Education, Japanese Literature, Social Welfare, Education, and science-related disciplines.
現地では、学生が調書作成、写真撮影、データ入力などの作業を通じて、600巻におよぶ仏教典籍と関連資料の整理に取り組んだ。史料への実地対応を通じて、文化財調査の基礎を実践的に学ぶ機会となった。
At the site, students engaged in cataloging, photography, and data entry, contributing to the documentation of 600 volumes of Buddhist scriptures and related materials. The project provided hands-on experience in the fundamentals of cultural heritage research.
中台延命寺の大般若経は、江戸時代に中台村およびその周辺地域の住民によって奉納されたものであり、当時の宗教的実践や地域社会の構造を知るうえで重要な手がかりとされる。
The Daihannyakyo Sutra was originally donated during the Edo period by residents of Nakadai Village and neighboring areas. It offers important insight into religious practices and local social structures of that era.
事業の実現にあたっては、延命寺の大塚住職、板橋区教育委員会の神子美涼学芸員、日本女子大学の藤井雅子教授（社会連携教育センター所長）が連携し、調査環境の整備と教育面での支援にあたった。
The initiative was made possible through collaboration between Chief Priest Otsuka, curator Misuzu Kamiko of the Itabashi Ward Board of Education, and Professor Masako Fujii, Director of the university’s Center for Social Collaboration in Education.
藤井教授は、学生が原本史料に直接触れ、記録作成に取り組んだことが、文化財の価値を実感しながら地域とつながる貴重な経験になったと振り返った。また、登録に至るまで協力を得た関係者に対して感謝の意を表した。
Professor Fujii noted that the opportunity to handle original historical materials and engage in documentation allowed students to develop a deeper appreciation for cultural assets while building meaningful ties with the community. She expressed her gratitude to those who supported the project and the registration process.
