Tokyo’s Mishima Shrine to Offer New “Sazukari-mamori” Amulet for Good Fortune and Safe Childbirth
東京・下谷の三島神社（台東区）で、9月14日から新たな授与品「授り守（さずかりまもり）」の頒布が始まる。
Mishima Shrine in Shitaya, Tokyo’s Taito Ward, will begin offering a new protective charm, the Sazukari-mamori, starting September 14.
福運や子宝、健康、良縁などを願い、神前で祓い清めた後に授けられるお守り。ご祭神である磐長姫命（いわながひめのみこと）と木花開耶姫命（このはなさくやひめのみこと）の加護を受けられるよう、特別な祈願が込められている。
The charm is offered after being ritually purified before the shrine’s altar. It is meant to invite blessings of fortune, fertility, health, and good relationships, invoking the protection of two enshrined deities: Iwanaga-hime and Konohana-sakuya-hime.
頒布開始日となる9月14日は、「大安」「戌の日」「母倉日」といった縁起の良い暦が重なる日。「正五九」の9月でもあり、神仏への参拝に適した節目とされる。
September 14 coincides with several auspicious calendar markers in Japan—including Taian (a “lucky day”), Inu no Hi (linked to safe childbirth), and Bokusho-bi (favorable for joyful events). It also falls in September, one of the traditionally favorable “shogoguku” months for shrine visits.
お守りは丸型で、調和や円満を象徴する形。透け感のあるレース生地で包み、小ぶりで持ち運びやすい。台紙には縁起物として知られる八重桜があしらわれている。
The amulet is round—symbolizing harmony and completeness—and wrapped in sheer lace fabric. It is small and portable, and mounted on a card decorated with yaezakura, double-layered cherry blossoms known for their auspicious symbolism.
三島神社は、「雷井戸」の伝説で知られる。かつて神主が雷を井戸に封じたことで、この地には雷が落ちなくなったと語り継がれ、以来「落ちない」ご利益を求めて受験生らの信仰を集めてきた。
Mishima Shrine is known for the legend of its “Thunder Well,” where a priest is said to have sealed a lightning spirit long ago. Since then, the area has been believed to be protected from lightning, making the shrine popular among students and others seeking to “avoid failure.”
神社は東京メトロ日比谷線「入谷駅」から徒歩8分。授り守は社務所のほか、公式サイトでも受け付けを行う予定だ。
The shrine is an eight-minute walk from Iriya Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line. The Sazukari-mamori will be available both at the shrine office and via the official website.
