Edo-Period Pilgrimage to Ise Reimagined for Reiwa Era: New Hotel Program Launched Ahead of 2032 Shikinen Sengu
伊勢神宮の次回式年遷宮（2032年）を前に、「お伊勢まいり」の伝統を現代に再構築する宿泊体験が始まった。三重県伊勢市の分散型ホテル「NIPPONIA HOTEL 伊勢河崎 商人町」が、江戸時代の巡礼ルートをなぞる2つの滞在プランを2025年7月1日から提供する。
In anticipation of the 2032 Shikinen Sengu at Ise Jingu, a new lodging experience that revives the traditional O-Ise Mairi pilgrimage is now underway. NIPPONIA HOTEL Ise-Kawasaki Shoninmachi in Ise City, Mie Prefecture, will begin offering two stay plans based on Edo-period pilgrimage routes starting July 1, 2025.
このホテルは、伊勢河崎に残る歴史的建造物を宿泊施設として再生した「まちに泊まる」分散型ホテル。神宮を訪れる巡礼者の滞在拠点として、内面を見つめ直す旅の場を提供している。
The hotel operates as a dispersed lodging facility, repurposing historical buildings in the Ise-Kawasaki district. It serves as a base for modern pilgrims seeking introspective journeys to Ise Jingu.
2種類のプランは、「深参（しんさん）」と「悠参（ゆうさん）」。いずれも二見浦での禊に始まり、伊勢神宮の外宮・内宮を参拝。深参ではさらに朝熊岳の金剛證寺まで巡る「お伊勢まいり」本来の形を体験できる。
Two plans are available: “Shinsan” (Deep Pilgrimage) and “Yusan” (Leisure Pilgrimage). Both begin with purification at Futamiura and include visits to Ise Jingu’s Geku (Outer Shrine) and Naiku (Inner Shrine). The Shinsan plan also includes Kongoshoji Temple on Mt. Asama, following the full historical route.
江戸時代、「お伊勢まいり」は年間600万人が訪れる一大信仰行事だった。正式な参拝順序では、まず二見興玉神社で海辺の禊を行い、外宮から内宮へと向かい、最後に金剛證寺へ結願参拝する流れが基本とされた。
During the Edo period, O-Ise Mairi attracted up to six million pilgrims annually. The customary sequence began with ritual purification at Futami Okitama Shrine, followed by visits to the Outer and Inner Shrines, and concluded with a final pilgrimage to Kongoshoji Temple.
朝熊岳の金剛證寺は「朝熊をまいらねば片参り」とも唄われ、神宮の鬼門を守る寺として重視されてきた。
Mt. Asama’s Kongoshoji Temple has long been considered a vital part of the pilgrimage, as the saying goes: “A pilgrimage without Asama is incomplete.” The temple guards the northeast gate of Ise Jingu.
ホテルでは、巡礼の道中を無理なく巡れるよう、移動手段やアメニティを整備。早朝参拝前の軽食や、毎晩異なる入浴剤など、心身を整えるサービスも付く。
To support guests on their journey, the hotel offers transport support and amenities tailored for the pilgrimage, including light breakfasts before morning shrine visits and daily bath additives for relaxation.
1泊2日の「悠参」プランでは、移動負担を抑えつつ、神宮の主要参拝地を中心に体験できる。金剛證寺は訪れず、代わりに同寺発行の写真集が記念品として贈られる。
The 1-night “Yusan” plan offers a more accessible experience, focusing on key sites such as Geku and Naiku. Instead of a visit to Kongoshoji Temple, guests receive a commemorative photo book published by the temple.
今回のプランは、2032年に向けて始まる神宮諸神事と連動し、「聖地・伊勢」に改めて光を当てるもの。祈りの旅を望む人々や、特定の宗教に属さないが精神的な充足や気づきを大切にする「SBNR（Spiritual But Not Religious）」層の受け皿としても期待される。
The program aligns with the religious rites that precede the 2032 Shikinen Sengu and shines a renewed spotlight on sacred Ise. It is also expected to appeal to the growing number of “Spiritual But Not Religious” (SBNR) travelers seeking inner reflection.
