Chunichi Shimbun’s “The Garden” Brings Japanese Garden Spirituality to Life in 3D—Explore Ryotanji and the Hayashi Residence Garden Online
中日新聞社は、連載企画「庭～THE GARDEN」で紹介した日本庭園を3Dモデル化し、ソーシャル3Dプラットフォーム「Arrival.Space」上で公開した。
Chunichi Shimbun has created 3D models of Japanese gardens featured in its monthly series “The Garden,” and released them on the social 3D platform Arrival.Space.
第1弾として、浜松市の龍潭寺庭園と愛知県一宮市の旧林氏庭園が登場。ブラウザ上で自由に移動でき、他の訪問者との交流も可能な仮想空間として公開されている。
The first release features the gardens of Ryotanji Temple in Hamamatsu and the former Hayashi Residence in Ichinomiya. Visitors can explore the virtual space freely and interact with others online.
龍潭寺は奈良時代創建と伝わる古刹で、井伊家の菩提寺としても知られる。池泉鑑賞式庭園は江戸時代に整備され、禅の静けさを湛えた景観が3D空間にも再現されている。
Ryotanji Temple, founded in the Nara period, is also known as the ancestral temple of the Ii family. Its Edo-period pond-viewing garden, designed for contemplation, has been faithfully recreated in 3D, capturing its tranquil Zen spirit.
中日新聞の「庭～THE GARDEN」は、三重県津市の北畠氏館跡庭園から始まった企画で、中部地方の寺社庭園や近代庭園を月1回のペースで紹介している。
“The Garden” series began with the Kitabatake clan’s residence garden in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, and introduces temple and historical gardens across central Japan on a monthly basis.
中日新聞ではこれまでにも戦争遺跡などの3Dスキャンを行っており、仮想空間を通じた文化財の新たな鑑賞方法の開発に取り組んでいる。
Chunichi Shimbun has previously undertaken 3D scans of war heritage sites, continuing to explore new ways to experience cultural assets through virtual space.
