Asahi Shimbun Launches New Crowdfunding Platform “A-port Mirai” to Support Temple and Shrine Heritage—First Project Aims to Restore the Seated Statue of Yoshizane Miura at Manshoji Temple
朝日新聞社は、寺社文化財を支援する新たなクラウドファンディング「A-portみらい」（https://a-portmirai.asahi.com/）を開設し、その第1弾として神奈川県横須賀市の満昌寺が所蔵する国指定重要文化財「三浦義明坐像」の修理費用支援を2025年7月1日より呼びかけている。
The Asahi Shimbun Company has launched a new crowdfunding platform, “A-port Mirai,” dedicated to supporting the preservation of temple and shrine cultural properties. The first fundraising campaign, launched on July 1, 2025, seeks to support the restoration of the seated statue of Yoshiaki Miura, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property housed at Manshoji Temple in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture.
義明坐像は、源頼朝によって建立された三浦一族の菩提寺・満昌寺に伝わる仏像で、鎌倉時代後期の作とされる寄木造りの肖像彫刻である。衣冠束帯の姿に玉眼をはめ、長いひげをたくわえた老将の風貌が印象的だ。
The statue depicts Miura Yoshiaki, a military commander whose family temple Manshoji was established by Minamoto no Yoritomo in 1194. Created in the late Kamakura period using the yosegi (joined woodblock) technique, the sculpture portrays Yoshizane in court attire with glass-inlaid eyes and a long beard, conveying the dignity of an aged warrior.
今回の修理は、およそ180年ぶりの本格的な修復作業となり、2030年に迎える義明没後850年に向けた整備の一環として実施される。併せて境内の整備も計画されている。
This restoration marks the first full-scale repair in approximately 180 years, and forms part of the temple’s preparations to commemorate the 850th anniversary of Yoshizane’s death in 2030. Grounds maintenance is also included in the project.
朝日新聞社はこれまでも法隆寺金堂壁画再現や東大寺大仏殿の昭和大修理など、日本の宗教文化財を守る取り組みを継続してきた。2015年には「寺社文化財みらいセンター」を社内に設置し、全国の神社仏閣への支援を広げる活動を続けている。
Asahi Shimbun has a long history of supporting cultural heritage, including major efforts such as the reproduction of the Horyuji Kondo wall paintings and the Showa-era restoration of the Great Buddha Hall at Todaiji. In 2015, the company established an internal Temple and Shrine Cultural Heritage Future Center to further connect the public with Japan’s sacred architecture and cultural assets.
本クラウドファンディング事業は、同社が防災と文化財保護の観点から始めた「法隆寺みらいプロジェクト」（2025年1月発表）を含む取り組みの一環でもある。
“A-port Mirai” also forms part of the company’s broader initiatives, including the “Horyuji Mirai Project” announced in January 2025, which focuses on cultural preservation and disaster resilience for religious sites.
