Kennotsuka Inari Shrine, Miyazaki, Japan Crowdfunding to Repair Main Shrine
宮崎県国富町にある剣柄稲荷神社が、老朽化した本殿の修繕費用を募るクラウドファンディングを実施している。神社は、1900年にわたる歴史を持ち、全国でも珍しい古墳の上に鎮座することでも知られている。地域住民による信仰が続けられている中、参拝者が安全にお祓いや参拝を行える環境を整えることを目的としている。
Kennotsuka Inari Shrine in Kunitomi-cho, Miyazaki Prefecture, is conducting a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to repair its aging main shrine. The shrine has a history spanning 1,900 years and is known for its location on top of a burial mound, a rarity in Japan. While local residents continue to worship the shrine, the purpose of the project is to create an environment where worshippers can safely perform purification and visit the shrine.
同神社によると、境内には樹齢約1000年と伝えられるクスノキの大木やイチイカシの古株があり、創建の古さを物語っている。特にクスノキの根元には、人がうつ伏せになったように見える形があり、「不老長寿の木」として親しまれている。
According to the shrine, a large camphor tree, said to be approximately 1,000 years old, and an old stump of the Iichi-ikashi oak, a natural treasure, are located on the shrine grounds, indicating the age of the shrine’s founding. The camphor tree, in particular, has a shape at its base that looks like a person lying on his or her face, and is popularly known as the “tree of longevity.
修繕計画は、窓の設置による防寒対策を検討する中で、屋根の銅板の腐食や柱の傾きなど深刻な構造的劣化が見つかり、急遽、屋根と柱の修復を含む本格的な工事が必要となったことから始まった。2025年3月時点で、すでに本殿には足場が設けられ、地元工務店による屋根の修繕が進行中である。
As of March 2025, scaffolding had already been erected on the main hall, and repairs to the roof by a local construction company were underway. The work is underway.
支援者には、境内に自生していた樹齢100～200年とみられるイヌマキ材で製作した「ご神木のお守り」「お札」などを返礼品として用意している。クラウドファンディングは2025年6月中旬まで実施され、工事は9月に開始、年内の完了を予定している。
Supporters will receive as gifts “sacred tree talismans” and “omu-fuda” made from a 100- to 200-year-old inumaki tree that used to grow wild on the shrine’s grounds. The crowdfunding campaign will run until mid-June 2025, and construction is scheduled to begin in September and be completed by the end of the year.
同神社は「地域の歴史的・信仰的な象徴を後世に残したい」として広く支援を呼びかけている。
The shrine is calling for widespread support, saying, “We want to leave a historical and religious symbol of the region to future generations.
