Koukokuji Temple Introduces Projection Mapping at its Ryuriden Ossuary
東京都新宿区の幸國寺は、寺院が運営する納骨堂「琉璃殿」にプロジェクションマッピングを導入した。映像技術を活用し、参拝空間に新たな演出を加える取り組みで、2025年春より本格稼働を開始している。
Koukokuji Temple in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, has introduced projection mapping at Ryuriden, an ossuary operated by the temple. The projection mapping is an initiative to add a new visual effect to the worship space by utilizing video technology, and full-scale operation is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2025.
琉璃殿は、ガラス製の仏像とLED照明を組み合わせた納骨施設として設計されており、今回の導入では、仏像の足元に蓮華が浮かび上がる映像や、四季の草花を模した演出が展開される。演出制作には、プロジェクションマッピングの専門クリエイターが携わり、東京都庁など公共施設での演出を手がけた実績を持つ。
Ryuriden is designed as an ossuary facility that combines a glass statue of Buddha with LED lighting, and with the introduction of this projection mapping, a video showing a lotus flower floating at the foot of the statue of Buddha and a production that imitates flowers and plants of the four seasons will be developed. The projection mapping is produced by a creator specializing in projection mapping, who has experience in projection mapping for public facilities such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office.
同寺によると、映像は宗教儀礼の妨げとならないよう配慮されており、供養の空間に調和するよう設計されている。技術と宗教の共存を意識した演出で、静かな参拝環境を維持しつつ、空間の広がりを演出することを目的としているという。
According to the temple, the images are designed not to interfere with religious ceremonies and to harmonize with the space for the memorial service. The temple says that the production was created with an awareness of the coexistence of technology and religion, and is intended to create an expansive space while maintaining a quiet environment for worship.
