知恩院春のライトアップ 過去開催事の様子＿AXIZLight演出の三門
浄土宗総本山・知恩院（京都市東山区）で、春の夜を彩る恒例の「春のライトアップ2025」が始まった。開催期間は3月26日から4月6日まで。三門、御影堂、友禅苑など、由緒ある境内を最新のライティング技術で照らし出す特別な夜間拝観だ。
The annual “Spring Light-up 2025” has begun at Chion-in Temple (Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto), the head temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism, to add color to spring nights. The event will be held from March 26 to April 6. This is a special nighttime event in which the Sanmon Gate, the Mikado Hall, the Yuzen Garden, and other historic sites are illuminated with the latest lighting technology.
今年の見どころは、「黄金の桜」をテーマにした三門の演出。国宝に指定された国内最大級の木造門を、浄土宗の象徴色である金色の光が包み込む。訪れる人々を、極楽浄土を思わせる幻想の世界へと誘う構成となっている。
The highlight of this year’s event is the San-mon gate, which is decorated with the theme of “Golden Cherry Blossoms. One of the largest wooden gates in Japan, designated as a national treasure, will be bathed in golden light, the symbolic color of the Jodo sect. The structure invites visitors into a fantasy world reminiscent of the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
御影堂では、6本の光の柱が「南無阿弥陀仏」の六字を天へと届ける演出が施され、荘厳な雰囲気に包まれる。友禅苑では、しだれ桜と池泉回遊式の庭園が、光と影のバランスによって一層際立ち、訪問者を静謐な時間へと誘う。
In the Mieido Hall, six pillars of light deliver the six characters of “Namu Amidabutsu” to the heavens, creating a solemn atmosphere. In the Yuzen-en Garden, weeping cherry blossoms and a garden with a circular pond will be highlighted by the balance of light and shadow, inviting visitors to a moment of tranquility.
ライトアップは照明演出集団AXIZ Lightが担当し、知恩院の歴史的景観と調和する幻想的な空間を生み出している。
AXIZ Light, a lighting production group, is in charge of lighting up the garden, creating a fantastic space that harmonizes with the historical landscape of Chion-in Temple.
加えて、僧侶と巡る「月かげプレミアムツアー」や、京都ジュニアオーケストラ有志によるコンサート「おてつぎフェス2025」などの特別企画も同時開催され、視覚だけでなく聴覚・心にも響く夜となっている。
In addition, special events such as “Tsukikage Premium Tour” with a Buddhist monk and “Otetsugi-fesu 2025,” a concert by the Kyoto Junior Orchestra will be held at the same time, creating a night that will resonate not only visually, but also aurally and emotionally.
知恩院は、浄土宗の開祖・法然が布教と入寂された遺跡に建つ由緒ある寺院であり、御影堂や大鐘楼など多くの国宝・重文が点在する。春の一夜を照らすこのライトアップは、古都京都の歴史と信仰を感じさせるとともに、新たな光の演出で訪れる人々の記憶に刻まれる催しである。
Chion-in Temple is a historic temple built on the site where Honen, the founder of the Jodo sect, propagated Buddhism and entered into spiritual enlightenment, and is dotted with many national treasures and important cultural properties, including the Mieido Hall and the Great Bell Tower.
