Days and events written by the chief abbot of Taimadera Nakanobo – Essay collection “365 days of Taimadera” published
奈良県葛城市の當麻寺中之坊で貫主を務める松村實昭氏が、同寺の日常や年中行事を綴ったエッセー集『當麻寺の365日』（西日本出版社）を出版した。奈良の寺院を紹介する「お寺の365日」シリーズの第5弾として刊行された。
Jitsuaki Matsumura, chief abbot of Taimadera Nakanobo in Katsuragi City, Nara Prefecture, has published a collection of essays on daily life and annual events at the temple, “365 days of Taimadera” (Nishinippon Publishing). The book was published as the fifth volume in the “365 Days of Temples” series, which introduces temples in Nara.
當麻寺は、曼荼羅を本尊とする浄土信仰の霊場として知られ、練供養や中将姫伝説、陀羅尼助といった独自の文化的要素を持つ。真言宗と浄土宗が共存する特異な宗教空間でもある。著者の松村氏は同志社大学文学部を卒業後、高野山専修学院で修行を積み、1997年に副住職に就任。2023年より中之坊の貫主を務めている。
Taima-dera is known as a sacred site of Pure Land Buddhism with a mandala as its principal image, and has unique cultural elements such as Neri Kuyo, the legend of Princess Chujohime, and Daranisuke. It is also a unique religious space where Shingon and Pure Land Buddhism coexist. The author, Matsumura, graduated from Doshisha University’s Faculty of Letters, trained at Koyasan Senshu Gakuin, and became deputy chief priest in 1997, and has served as chief abbot of Nakanobo since 2023.
本書では、1年を通して行われる傳統行事の解説を中心に、住職の目線で語られる寺の日常や、地域とのつながり、修験や信仰にまつわる話題がつづられている。練供養、蓮華会、陀羅尼助づくりといった行事に加え、曼荼羅にまつわる解説や、中将姫信仰に関する歴史的背景も多く取り上げられている。
In this book, he describes the daily life of the temple, its connection with the local community, and topics related to Shugen and religious beliefs, mainly through the eyes of the chief priest, with a focus on explanations of traditional events held throughout the year. In addition to events such as Neri Kuyo, Rengekai, and Daranisuke making, the book also includes explanations related to mandalas and historical background on the Chujohime faith.
