Seated Shakyamuni Buddha to be specially opened to the public to commemorate completion of repairs: Kei-ha Buddha from Nosegawa Village, Nara revived
鎌倉時代初期、慶派仏師の手により刻まれたと伝わる釈迦如来坐像が、2年にわたる修復を経てよみがえった。奈良県のなら歴史芸術文化村では、修理の完成を記念し、野迫川村平区に伝わるこの仏像を特別に公開する。会期は4月19日から6月1日まで。入場は無料。
The seated Shakyamuni Buddha, said to have been carved by a Kei-ha Buddhist priest in the early Kamakura period, has been revived after two years of restoration. To commemorate the completion of the restoration, Nara Prefecture’s Nara Historical Art and Culture Village will hold a special exhibition of the statue in Nosegawa Village’s Tairaku district. The exhibition will be held from April 19 to June 1. Admission is free.
釈迦如来坐像は、奈良県指定文化財に登録されており、平安から鎌倉への過渡期に活躍した慶派の技法を伝える貴重な作例とされる。静かな山村に守られてきた尊像は、経年による損傷が進んでいたことから、令和5年度よりなら歴史芸術文化村の修復工房にて、本格的な修理が行われていた。

今回の展示は、通常非公開の修理成果を一般に紹介する貴重な機会。会場は文化財修復・展示棟の地下展示室で、仏像の構造や修理工程を写真資料とともに解説するコーナーも設けられる。
This exhibition is a rare opportunity for the public to see the results of the restoration, which is not usually open to the public. The exhibition will be held in the basement exhibition room of the Cultural Property Restoration and Exhibition Building, and there will be a corner to explain the structure of Buddhist statues and the restoration process with photographic materials.
主催はなら歴史芸術文化村、協力には公益財団法人美術院と野迫川村教育委員会が名を連ね、地域の文化財保護における協働の成果がかたちとなった。
The Nara History, Art, and Culture Village will host the exhibition, with the cooperation of the Bijutsu-in Foundation and the Nosegawa Village Board of Education, which will be the result of collaboration in the protection of cultural properties in the region.
野迫川村は紀伊山地の奥深くに位置し、古来より山岳信仰の場として知られる。そこで静かに守られてきた釈迦如来像の力強くも穏やかな姿は、訪れる者に深い感銘を与えるだろう。
Nosegawa Village is located deep in the Kii Mountains and has been known as a place of mountain worship since ancient times. The powerful yet serene figure of Shakyamuni Buddha, which has been quietly protected there, is sure to deeply impress visitors.
